Food Distribution

Client Choice Shopping is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers directly help guests with brief client intake and the shopping process.

Stocking and Prep

Volunteers sort, organize, and stock food. Also, sack lunches are filled in preparation for upcoming distribution to unsheltered individuals. This is generally done during hours WestAid is closed —usually Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Truck Crew

These volunteers focus on the pick-up and delivery of food to WestAid. The vast majority of WestAid’s food inventory comes from the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Orders between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds are picked up onsite at the food bank twice weekly. A volunteer drives our 14-foot box truck, and the order is loaded on pallets. Volunteers at WestAid offload the order, where it is then stocked.

Other smaller orders are picked up at a local grocers at different times during the week. Special orders are also placed at local grocers that need to be picked up by the truck, as well. In addition, WestAid may need large food drive orders picked up for delivery to our location for distribution.
